Clusters are really large, cylindrical-conical in shape, winged, medium-sized, with an average weight between 550 and 750 grams, loose berries, long peduncle with weak lignification. The grape berries are of low uniformity in size and color, with hard and crunchy pulp, colorless, juicy, without peculiar flavors or aromas. It is a sweet grape.
The pedicel detaches easily. The grain size is small, spherical in shape and circular in section. The skin is very thin, attractive, and with bloom. Its stylar scar is easily visible.
In reference to its agricultural characteristics and adaptation to the vineyard environment, this variety requires shoot and cluster thinning due to its great vigor.
Ring pruning is recommended to increase the caliber and homogenize the color. Cluster thinning is also advised. Treatments with gibberellins can be applied. This grape is extremely sweet and has balanced acidity.
Flamme is suitable for table grapes, if consumed fresh, and for making raisins, which are of the highest quality among those from seedless varieties. This seedless grape tolerates transportation and cold storage very well.
It originated in Fresno, California, obtained in 1961 by crossing two well-known varieties, Sultanina and Cardinal.
